Bengal Baby
My dad is a happy man most of the time, but on Sunday in the fall he becomes a yelling machine! Not at me or my brother, but at the television set in our family room. Ever since he was a boy my dad was in love with the Bengals, of course that was before he met my mom. Just like his dad shared the Bengals with him, my daddy wanted so badly for my brother Drew and I to love them to, so they became a part of my upbringing. My dad loved them so much that he owned two seats in the biggest stadium I have ever seen so he could go watch the Bengal tigers play whenever he wanted! Dad would tell me that when I was old enough he would bring me with him so I could see them for myself, not just on the screen. I was so excited and couldn’t wait for the big day when dad would take me to the “jungle” so I could see the game he loved so much.
One Sunday dad finally told me I could go with him! I dressed in all orange and black like the Bengal tiger and wore pigtails in my hair and he drove me downtown with a big grin on his face. He was so proud of his little Bengal fan, dad had been waiting for seven years for this moment and so had I!I was so excited as we walked into the giant building. The crowd was so huge that they almost ate me up as they were all cheering and dancing around like monkeys. When we got to our seats I saw the bright lights, big green field, fireworks and then dozens of giant’s parade onto the field as the crowd roared. Dad said I could scream here and I didn’t have to use my inside voice, so I yelled with everyone else, not even sure what I was yelling. With the first punt of the game I fell in love with the Bengals and as they charged down the field I was filled with joy. They are not just my daddy’s team anymore, they are my team now to!
