There are many reasons that using a cell phone while driving should be prohibited. One of these is the distraction that cell phones create for a driver. A leading cause of car accidents is distracted driving, and most cases involve phone use. If a driver receives a call or text message while driving, even for a few seconds, only fate can determine what will happen. they could hit a mailbox, a light post, another car, or even a child playing in their front yard.
That being said, there are a few reasons that using a cell phone in the process of driving may be acceptable. A good reason for using a phone while driving may be to take a business call from one's job. You never know if there is an announcement such as cancellation of the work day or a schedule shift. Cell phones may also be used in case of a family emergency. If a babysitter or one's child needs help, or a loved one is experiencing a major emergency such as a heart attack, drivers ought to carry a cell phone as a precautionary measure.
