Journal Ten

Kori Wilkins

In this journal I discuss whether I think schools assign to much homework.
How much Homework Is To Much?
I remember when I was young wishing I had more time to play. But I always felt I was stuck doing school work even when it was after school hours. I would got to school for about seven hours a day and every night I came home with at least an hour of homework.
I do think kids get assigned way to much homework and by the time they finish its dark out so they just sit and watch TV which means they don’t exercise at all. Or they never had time to themselves. I do think schools assign way to much homework for children to do. Out of school they need time to play and exercise rather than being cooped up Monday thru Friday doing school work.

After reading the short story “Why Schools Don’t Educate” I realized that wow we dedicate so much more time then I think I ever really realized. For intense my five year old nephew Riley has already been attending preschool for two years and he still has kindergarten to go through and then twelve more years of schooling. We just spend so much time at school and until I read this essay I don’t really think I comprehended how long I have been in school.

This short story “Why Schools Don’t Educate” is right kids spend way too much time at school and this leaves them little to no time at all to be kids and have time to themselves. They are stuck going to school all day and coming home and doing homework all night. Not only do kids have school then homework but majorities of kids also play sports and they have about an hour and a half of practice twice a week and then at least one to two games a week. Where is there any time for kids to just be kids?
