College
From the time I was a child my parents always told me that I have to go to college. It wasn’t a choice, it was a must. They always said, “Erin, if you don’t go to college you won’t get anywhere in life.” The problem was, from the time I was a child I didn’t care too much for school, the early mornings, and constant supervision. Then reaching my rebellious teen years the feelings just got stronger. So when the time came to graduate from high school and continue on to college I didn’t want to tell my parents that I didn’t intend on continuing my education. I felt like I would be disappointing them. So I spent 2 years working little non-sense, minimum wage jobs every where from gas stations to pet hotels. I finally realized that maybe my parents were right, you do have to attend college to be someone in this world.
I think that this was a positive experience because, if my parents wouldn’t have told me my whole life that I had to attend college to make it, then I would probably continued down the path that I was on. But instead I’m doing as my parents wished and continuing my education to make a better life for me and my son.
